thrash out:徹底的に議論する

thrash out は 徹底的に議論する という意味です。

  • thrash out what to do 何をどうするか徹底的に議論する
  • thrash out a solution 徹底的に議論して解決策を打ち出す
  • thrash out all the pros and cons 良い点と悪い点をすべて洗い出して検討する

などの表現があります。

thrash は 強く打つ・打ち負かす という意味です。
音楽のジャンルで thrash metal スラッシュメタル というのがありますが、これは 金属を打ち付けてかき鳴らしたような激しい音楽 といった意味合いで、ヘビーメタルよりもさらに過激なスタイルとして分類されていますね。

assertion:主張・断言
